Casino War is arguably the easiest casino game available anywhere online. The idea is that the player draws a card and the casino draws a card, the highest card wins. The game is often called just War when played at home, but in online casinos it is referred to as Casino War.
Casino War is a fast, easy and exciting card game. So if you’re a bit of an adrenaline junkie, who enjoys fast-paced games, this is the perfect choice for you.
I have been addicted to Casino War myself ever since I saw the 90’s movie “National Lampoon’s Vacation in Las Vegas”, in which Chevy Chase goes to Las Vegas with his family: He stayed at the Casino War table while the rest of the family ventured out on their own adventures. A classic, must-see, Las Vegas movie if you haven’t seen it yet!

Casino War Rules
Casino War is usually played with 6 decks of 52 cards. However, this may vary from casino to casino. The card ranking is the same as in poker, except for the Ace- which is always a high card. The cards’ colour, or whether or not they are hearts, spades, diamonds or clubs, doesn’t matter in casino war. After the player has placed a bet he receives a card and the casino dealer receives a card.
The player’s card is then compared with the dealer’s card – if the dealer’s card is higher than the player’s, the player loses.
If the player and the dealer have the same card, the player has two options.
- To fold and lose half of the stake
- To go to war (see the rules below)
If the player chooses to go to war – he will place his bet again. The bet should be the same as the initial bet. The dealer then does the same. The casino’s dealer then throws off three cards from the deck (3’burn cards’ as they are called) and then gives the player and himself one card each.
If the player’s second card is the same as – or higher than – the dealer’s, he wins the bet 1:1 on both the initial and the additional bet. (Note that this can vary – sometimes the casino pays 1:1 on the initial bet – – other times you get 1:1 on both bets). If the dealer’s second is card higher than the player’s, the player loses both bets.
Side Bet in Casino War
In addition to the regular bet in Casino War, most casinos has a side bet where you can bet on a tie – a so-called “Tie bet”. This usually gives a payout of 10:1. There is usually an extra box for placing a tie bet above the box for the regular bet. Many Casino War players place a small tie bet because this will give them higher odds for winning.
Casino War Odds
The odds of winning depend on how many decks are being used. For the typical number of six decks of cards, the house edge is 2.88%. If the casino only uses one deck, the house edge
is 2.42%. Some casinos offer a bonus to a draw / tie, and this also changes the odds. To find out how many decks the casino uses, we recommend reading the rules on the various casino sites or perhaps contact their customer support.
Casino War is an incredibly easy game, and it offers some variety if you usually play other card games. Most online casinos offer casino wars, but we recommend trying out one of the casinos listed at the top of this page.
